Organizers

The event is organised by the

Balkan Speleological Union (BSU) with the cooperation of Federation of Speleological Organizations of Serbia (SSOS).

LOCATION

The Camp will be organised near the town of Nova Varoš, Western Serbia. Nova Varoš is 267 km away from the national capital Belgrade and “Nikola Tesla” Airport. There is direct bus to Nova Varoš, or train to Prijepolje and additional bus from Prijepolje to Nova Varoš.

CAMP

Accomodation and food facilities

The Camp Site will be located 3 km form the town Nova Varoš, near to the famous Special Nature Reserve “Uvac”.
In the area there are places for accommodation of different categories.
The Center of the event and Camping place are located nearby hotel “Zlatarski Zlatnik”.

Meals are organised:
– You can organise your meals by yourself
– There is option for coupons for breakfast and dinner in hotel “Panorama” with price of 12 eur per person per day.
– There is an option of few other restaurant in radius of 1.0 km.

Accommodation:
– Camping place: camping fee for sleeping in tents is 4 eur per person per night. Near camping place there are toilets, showers and electricity (inside of the sport hall where will be Center of event).

– Accommodation places:

Please make reservation of accomodation as soon as possible, because this area is a popular touristic place!

General Aim

            To create conditions for connections and cooperation between the cavers and the speleological organizations of Balkan countries and their colleagues from all over the world by sharing information, experience, ideas, establishing joint exploration projects and expeditions etc. Excursions for acquaintance of the karst areas, as well as in the most representative caves in the area.

Caving trips & Excursions

Different kind of Caves are located close to the Camp. Some of the caves are little bit far from the camp.

Meetings and stands facilities

At the Camp site and hotel „Panorama“ there are space places for poster presentations and photo exhibition of the best works of Balkan photo contest „We and Caves“. Places for the stands will be available in the Camp site as well.

In the hotel “Panorama”, a conference room will be available for the Bureau and General Assembly meeting of the BSU.

Entrance fee

The provisional entrance fee will be 50 Eur. The entrance fee includes access and guide to the caves, guide book of the caves available for visiting, t-shirt, sticker, sertificate for attendance and closing party – dinner on Saturday evening.

Multi-languages facilities

Official language of the event will be English and, as an alternative, a combination of South-Slavic languages. We expect that most of the participants will understand and speak English. No official translations will be provided.

The official web page of the event is www.speleoserbia.org/balkancamp2023. The information will be spread through mailing lists, forums, as a link on speleological web pages, as well as through direct correspondence.

Provisional program

June 28th (Wednesday): arrival of participants & registration

June 29th (Thursday): registration, caving tours, excursions, presentations in the evening

June 30th (Friday): caving tours, excursions, Bureau Meeting of BSU, presentations in the evening

July 1st (Saturday): GAM of BSU, caving tours, closing party;

July 2nd (Sunday): departure

Optional activities during BCC2023

  • Boat ride on the Uvac lake;
